Toddlers 1-3 Years

At this stage, toddlers focus mainly on the three prime areas — the foundation for all later learning. The toddler stage, from one to three years, is a truly magical time of rapid growth and discovery. At this age, children are developing independence, exploring their environment, and building the foundations for lifelong learning. Guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), our approach for toddlers focuses on the three prime areas of learning — Communication and Language, Physical Development, and Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED) — which form the basis of early education.

In Communication and Language, toddlers begin to understand simple instructions, use single words, and soon progress to forming short sentences. Our caring practitioners model language naturally throughout the day — during play, story time, and everyday routines — helping children expand their vocabulary and confidence. Songs, rhymes, and storytelling sessions encourage listening, turn-taking, and self-expression, making learning both fun and meaningful.

Physical Development blossoms as toddlers gain strength, coordination, and independence. They love to run, climb, balance, and explore — both indoors and outdoors — developing key gross motor skills. Fine motor skills are nurtured through activities such as stacking blocks, painting, and feeding themselves. Our safe, stimulating environments encourage active play and healthy habits, helping children learn to care for themselves and their surroundings.

In Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED), toddlers form secure attachments with trusted adults, building confidence and emotional security. They begin to understand their own feelings and the feelings of others, showing early signs of empathy and independence. Our practitioners support each child with gentle guidance, helping them manage emotions, develop patience, and engage in early social play, such as learning to share and take turns.

As children approach age three, they also begin to explore the specific areas of learning — Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts and Design. Through stories, songs, counting games, sensory play, and creative exploration, children start making connections, expressing ideas, and understanding more about the world around them.

Our experienced team observes and plans for each child’s individual learning journey, ensuring that every toddler feels valued, supported, and inspired to explore. We create enabling environments that spark curiosity.

Every smile, every “I did it!”, and every new discovery is celebrated as toddlers grow into confident, capable learners — ready to take their next steps with joy.
